We are excited and proud to announce that recently, TripAdvisor (For those who do not know, it is the web’s Leading Hotel search worldwide) has given us the Award of Excellence 2015, remaining the No. 1 Accommodation in Castrojeriz. This certificate is awarded when almost all user opinions are excellent. For us though, it is a double reason for joy, since the award was given to us by real customers who visited Emebed, to whom we got to know and served them as best as we could to make their stay a pleasant memory. And everything in our 3rd year…

On April the 15th we open our doors again. A new 2015 season begins for Emebed, and with some good news! We intend to open our bar on the ground floor and its terrace to the public. We offer tapas accompanied by wine and/or cava in this unique space, which once were the former stables of the House, but now retrieved and updated but respecting its rustic and historic character. We wait for you in the Bar from 18 to 21 hours.

It is not a farewell, but everything comes to an end. And so does our 2014’ season. Each year, at the end of October, we close the doors of the hotel until the spring, when the good weather comes back again. The winter in Castrojeriz is cold, so cold that we merely have visits, that is the reason why we prefer to rest and take advantage of that time to make small fixes and improvements that are always necessary. Ultimately, we prepare everything to get ready for when the good weather arrives. As you know, this year has been our…

Jim and Jackie were recently in the Emebed Posada, Castrojeriz, one of their stages by the Pilgrim’s way through. To document their journey, they have created a blog, where they have been capturing ideas, images and comments in a very entertaining way. In the part devoted to their stage along Castrojeriz , they dedicated us a friendly and extensive text, for which we are very thankful and proud. For us, it is a pleasure to be recognized for our continuous effort to best serve our customers, and gradually improve as much as possible. You can see it here: http://jjgaschocamino.com/2014/09/03/day-12-a-dance-through-the-meseta/ Jackie…

Garlic has become for a few days, and as every year, the undisputed protagonist of Castrojeriz. On the last 19th of July, the XXXV Garlic fair of Castrojeriz was inaugurated, with a set of recreational and cultural activities where garlic is the main element. The most memorable activity has been, as always, the knitting garlic competition, something much more difficult than it might seem to be. It consists of braiding 30 heads of garlic with reeds of the river under the watchful eye of a jury of experts, who value the ability and the final result, and last but not…

The enchanted Hotel of Castrojeriz

Do not panic, it is not our posada. Ours is a lovely hotel, not enchanted at all! The fact is, since a while now, an enchanted hotel is said to exist in Castrojeriz. Stories tell that you can hear strange noises, whispers and with full moon, spectral visions of beings. It was even filmed in a paranormal phonemona program called “Cuarto Milenio”  (Sunday night at Four) presented by Iker Jiménez: In Castrojeriz we have several places that may perfectly be hangouts for paranormal beings, such as the Templar castle crowning the village with its secret tunnels, ruins of the convent of San…

Most of the inhabitants of the village of Castrillo Matajudíos voted on the past 25th for the renaming of the town.   The name with the most votes was Castrillo Mota de Judíos. In the consultation participated 52 of the 56 registered residents. A total 29 citizens voted in favor of changing the name , while the 19 left voted against. Mota refers to a low rise hill rising above a plain. That speck is visible from the main square of the village. We helped an American client who was here to cover the story and needed a translator. Surely…

On May 10 we had the pleasure of participating in a radio interview. The program “The handle” of esRadio Castilla y León, directed and presented by Javier Pérez Andrés, performed his usual Saturday morning program in Castrojeriz. Among others, tourism and housing issues were discussed. For this reason, several representatives of the most important local places were invited, and with the honor of being one of them. We were able to discuss and comment for about an hour, and even interviewed Gloria for a few minutes. Too bad we had so little time, because we had a lot to tell! But…
